As my second summer in the Arabian Horse Times offices begins, I find myself in a new place, but with familiar people. The Times has moved to Jordan, Mn, which works for me because I'll be closer to Cedar Ridge, where one of my horses is in training. Although three of my other horses are at home in South Dakota, I am comforted by the fact that I will have at least one horse to ride consistently. Thank goodness!
So here's to a summer of working for an International publication that has given me a great start to the life I hope to lead. I feel so lucky to have found a "job" based in the business I have grown up in and love so dearly. It's been a special journey since the first day I set foot in Performance Plus Arabians in South Dakota at age 6, and now, as an amateur rider and in my professional career as a writer for the Times, the journey continues. Through positivity, hard work, and setting goals, I hope to continue growing personally and professionally. Wish me luck!

Arabian Breeders World Cup--Las Vegas
This past weekend, I was lucky to be able to attend the Arabian Breeders World Cup Show in Las Vegas. In my first trip to the World Cup show and Las Vegas as well, I was amazed by the booming and up-all-night city and the prestigious show itself. Held at the South Point Casino and Hotel, the show was filled with some of the most beautiful and talented Arabians in the world, which made the show absolutely one of a kind. Also in attendance were some of the most prominent breeders, trainers, and involved Arabian people from all over the world. It was really an incredible halter show to be a part of. I'll definitely go back if I'm presented with the opportunity!

First Show of the Season
This past weekend I went to my first show of the 2012 season in Winona, Mn. It felt so good to be back in the show ring after a few month show hiatus, and I actually had people to show against! This is a big deal when we're talking about English classes in my area! I am lucky enough to have one purebred and one half-Arabian English horse, and they were both great in all my classes--4 classes total and I got a blue in all! It's such a special feeling to be back doing what I love most. When I'm showing, I feel at home. I feel confident, comfortable, and above all, completely in my element. Any nerves I once had in my earlier years are no longer an issue, and I am simply there to enjoy myself and my horses. I am so excited that the show season is finally here and I look forward to my upcoming shows!
