Introduction of a First Time Show Go-er: Lindsay Strong

Hey, y’all! Lindsay Strong here! If you don’t know me (which is most likely the case) I am Miss Kara Larson’s friend. I’m in Scottsdale embarking on my first horse show experience and writing about it. I’m a junior in college studying both Anthropology and English. Obsessed with horses as a wee child I only ever read about them in books so the chance to be surrounded by this entire culture is one I couldn’t pass up. See you all around WestWorld!

Scottsdale 2013 I

For myself and for so many others in the Arabian industry, the Scottsdale show is special. It serves as the opening show of the season and holds some of the best horses in the country and abroad in a huge variety of classes. And let's be honest, it certainly doesn't hurt that the show offers a break from my icy South Dakota home for a week in sunny Scottsdale. I've only been down here for a couple days now (as I had to do some serious persuading to get out classes for a week... in my last semester of college), but I couldn't be happier to be a part of the show again!

This year, for the first time since my 13 & under showing days, I am able to ride in the show. Although it isn't my own horse, I am so excited for the opportunity to show a new horse and to learn and grow under the assistance of an excellent trainer. I'll be posting a few photos and keeping you updated on major events of the week to come--so be sure to check back! My friend and classmate, Lindsay, will also be offering her thoughts on the Scottsdale show as a first time horse show go-er... which will be thoroughly entertaining and eye-opening for those of us who have been around horse shows our whole lives. Enjoy the show, the live feed, and everything the Arabian Horse Times has to offer to bring the Scottsdale show closer to you and your horse pals!

2012 U.S. Nationals I

With four days of the 2012 U.S. Nationals already behind us, we've seen (whether in person or on the live feed) countless amazing Arabian horses and horsemen dish out their best stuff in the spirit of competition and for the love of showing their horse. I am lucky to be a part of this group of exhibitors, showing in the Purebred English Pleasure and the HA Country English Pleasure. I'm so pleased to be riding in such competitive classes--the things our Arabians can do! I've also been had the time to watch many classes, and across the divisions, this show has facilitated some incredibly special horses and riders/handlers.

Additionally, the shopping vendors are open and in full swing, rose garlands are beginning to adorn more and more stall curtains, and most importantly, the camaraderie of the Arabian horse industry is at its finest at the Tulsa Expo Center.

We look forward to sharing more highlights through the week--enjoy the show!
